Is a palm reader a fortune teller?

The two words get used the same way at our door on Twiggs Street. They are not the same job.
Palmistry is a method. It has parts you can point at. Fortune telling is a label people carry in with them, usually from a movie, and it comes with an assumption we spend the first few minutes of a reading correcting.
What we actually look at on a hand
Shape first. A short square palm with short fingers reads differently than a long palm with long fingers, and that distinction sets the tone before we touch a single line.
Then the three lines almost everyone has heard of. The heart line runs across the top under the fingers. The head line sits below it. The life line curves around the base of the thumb, and no, its length is not a countdown, which is the single most common thing we have to unlearn with people.
After that, the mounts. Those are the raised pads under each finger and at the base of the thumb. Their firmness and height matter. Breaks, chains, islands, and forks in a line matter. Which hand we read matters too, and we look at both.

Do we tell you what is going to happen?
No. We will not do it and you should be cautious of anyone who will.
A reading is not a prediction with certainty attached. What a hand shows is disposition. Where you push, where you avoid, where the same shape of problem keeps coming back around. Plenty of people leave with a clearer read on a decision they had already half made. That is the honest version of what this is.

What does a palm reading cost in San Diego?
Ours is $60. A tarot card reading is $90, a full psychic reading is $125, and a combination reading that pairs two methods is $180.
Most first-timers start at $60, and that is the right call. If palmistry does not land for you, you are out the cost of lunch instead of the cost of a full sitting.
Where we read
3927 Twiggs St, Old Town San Diego, a short walk from Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. Open daily, 9am to 9pm. August afternoons out here run hot and the foot traffic off the park is steady until the marine layer rolls back in at dusk, so the quietest hours are early morning and the last hour before we close.
