What Tarot Card Represents Leo?

Leo is represented by Strength, the eighth card of the Major Arcana. The card shows a woman gently closing a lion's jaws, which stands for calm courage, warmth, and self-command rather than force. When a Leo sits at our table, Strength is the card we reach for most.

Leo season runs from about July 23 to August 22. We get more Leo clients in those weeks than any other sign, usually around a birthday, usually with a bold question already half-decided.

The lion on the card is not a coincidence. Leo is a fire sign ruled by the Sun, and Strength is about holding that fire steady.

Why Strength and not The Sun?

People assume Leo's card is The Sun because Leo is ruled by the Sun. Close, but not how the deck assigns it. The Sun is a card of joy and clarity that any sign can pull. Strength is the one tied to Leo itself.

CardWhat it points toWhen it shows for a Leo

The Sun (XIX)Joy, success, things coming into the openA win or a truth about to surface

How we read Strength at our Old Town table

A tarot reading with us runs $90 and takes a proper sitting, not a quick flip. When Strength lands upright for a Leo, we read it as a nudge to lead with warmth instead of pushing.

Reversed is different. Reversed Strength can mean the fire is turned inward as self-doubt or a short temper. We had a client in July, a Leo a week off her birthday, who pulled it reversed while asking about a job she was scared to leave. The card did not tell her to quit. It told her the fear was louder than the situation deserved.

And that is the honest part. We do not promise the cards predict what happens next. They give you a mirror and a vocabulary for the choice in front of you.

If you want to see your own Leo-season pull, book a tarot card reading or stop by the room on Twiggs Street near Old Town San Diego State Historic Park. We read daily from 9am to 9pm.
