When should you not read tarot cards?
Skip a tarot reading when you are in crisis and need medical or legal help, when you have already asked the same question repeatedly hoping for a different answer, or when you want a card to make a decision for you. Tarot informs a choice. It does not replace one.
We turn people away. Not often, but it happens, and we would rather explain why here than have someone spend $90 on a session that was never going to help them.
When the real problem is medical or legal
Someone comes in worried about a diagnosis, or a court date, or a custody question. The cards are not the right tool and Georgia says so.
A doctor or a lawyer is. That is not us being modest, it is the honest boundary of the work, and California law is clear that a reading is not a substitute for professional advice.
We will still talk with you. We just will not pretend the spread knows what the bloodwork says.
When you have already asked three times
Asking the same question over and over is the most common misuse we see. The answer came through, it was not the one you wanted, so you shuffle again.
That is not a reading. That is a slot machine.
If you have already pulled on a question this week, sit with what you got. Come back when the situation has actually changed rather than when your feelings about it have.
When you want the cards to decide for you
Tarot is good at showing what is already in motion and what you might be refusing to look at. It is bad at making choices on your behalf.
People sometimes want the second thing badly. Leaving a job, ending a relationship, moving across the country. Those decisions stay yours.
A reading can widen the picture. It cannot sign the lease.
Should you read for someone who did not ask?
No. Reading a person who is not in the room and did not consent is a habit worth dropping, whether the cards are yours or a reader's.
We get asked to read a partner's intentions regularly. What we will do instead is a relationship reading at $180, which looks at the connection you are actually part of rather than reporting on someone who never agreed to be read.
When you are drunk, exhausted, or mid-panic
Nothing lands. You will not remember half of it, and whatever you do remember will get filtered through however you were feeling that hour.
Come back rested. We are open daily 9:00am to 9:00pm at 3927 Twiggs St in Old Town, and the room is quietest in the evening once the foot traffic near the historic park thins out.
So when is it worth it?
When you have a live question, you are willing to hear an answer you did not order, and you want to talk it through with someone who will be straight with you.
That is most people who sit down. Tarot is $90, palm is $60, and a combination reading putting both together is $180. All of it is listed on our services and pricing page.
